The 1 st Crypto Innovation School (CIS 2018)

An IACR Cryptology School connected to Asiacrypt 2018

Dates : November 29th-December 2nd, 2018

Location: Shenzhen, China. Shenzhen is among the top 4 cities of mainland China and it is located immediately north of Hong Kong. Three (Shenzhen Bao'an, Hong Kong and Guangzhou Baiyun) international airports are within 2 hours' drive from the city of Shenzhen.

Topic

The organizers aim to build the winter school an annual event with varying topics in cryptography each year. Despite the main targeted audience being graduate students, postdocs (and early career faculties) in cryptography from the Asia-pacific region (mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia), the winter school is open to researchers of all levels and from all around the globe. All lectures and talks will be delivered in English.

The theme of the winter school this year is privacy, which includes (but is not limited to) the cryptographic foundations of privacy and privacy-preserving technologies, e.g., MPC, (F)HE, and differential privacy.

Registration

The school intends to admit 100 (and more up to the maximum capacity of the venue) attendees. Registration is free, but due to the limited capacity and budget, attendees need to apply for admission. Participants are required to have taken at least one university-level course in cryptography in advance. In addition, applicants who are not native English speakers are expected to exhibit good English skills in their CV. Applications are considered at the discretion of organizers on a first-come-first-served basis until the capacity is reached. Further, 10 stipends each of $500 (or equivalent) are available to students unable to obtain funding to attend the conference.

To apply for admission, send your CV to crypto.cis2018@gmail.com and in the meantime please indicate if you are eligible (i.e., as a student have no financial support for this trip) for the student stipend.
